border_style=&#8221;solid&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>\u201d\u00cen urm\u0103 cu 85 de ani, la 22.07.1918 s-a n\u0103scut un om deosebit care, de\u0219i a \u00eencetat din via\u021b\u0103 la 8.02.1981, la v\u00e2rsta de 63 de ani, r\u0103m\u00e2ne prin realizarea planoarelor de tip IS \u00een istoria avia\u021biei rom\u00e2ne, dar \u0219i ca un om deosebit, care tr\u0103ie\u0219te \u00eenc\u0103 \u00een memoria celor care l-au cunoscut.<br \/>\nDupa absolvirea \u00een anul 1941 a sec\u021biei de Avia\u021bie la Politehnica din Bucure\u0219ti se angajeaz\u0103 ca inginer la IAR Bra\u0219ov, iar \u00een activitatea sportiv\u0103 ob\u021bine \u00een anul 1944, la Aeroclubul S\u00e2npetru, brevetul de pilot planorist, iar \u00een anul 1947 brevetul de pilot pe avioane.<br \/>\n\u00cen paralel cu activitatea sa \u00een profesia de inginer, ca \u0219ef sec\u021bie montaj la IAR Bra\u0219ov, realizeaz\u0103 \u00een activitatea sportiv\u0103 la Aeroclubul S\u00e2npetru \u00een anul 1949 primul s\u0103u planor IS-2, care va deschide o serie de 32 de tipuri de planoare cu performan\u021be apreciate at\u00e2t \u00een \u021bar\u0103 c\u00e2t \u0219i \u00een str\u0103in\u0103tate.<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_image src=&#8221;https:\/\/inginerie.aero\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/inginerul-iosif-silimon.jpg&#8221; use_border_color=&#8221;off&#8221; border_color=&#8221;#ffffff&#8221; border_style=&#8221;solid&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>Ca inginer la IAR Bra\u0219ov, pe l\u00e2ng\u0103 construc\u021bia de avioane a participat \u00een anul 1945 \u0219i la realizarea la uzina IAR-Bra\u0219ov a primului tractor rom\u00e2nesc IAR 22.<\/p>\n<p>Dup\u0103 1945 uzina de avia\u021bie IAR-Bra\u0219ov este desfiin\u021bat\u0103 de regimul comunist impus de sovietici \u0219i este transformat\u0103 \u00een \u00eentreprindere de tractoare denumit\u0103 la \u00eenceput Sovromtractor iar apoi Tractorul Bra\u0219ov care preia personalul, utilajele \u0219i cl\u0103dirile uzinelor IAR din vecin\u0103tatea g\u0103rii CFR Bra\u0219ov unde func\u021bioneaz\u0103 \u0219i \u00een prezent.<\/p>\n<p>Dup\u0103 anul 1950, ca \u0219ef de sec\u021bie la Uzinele de Reparat Material Aeronautic &#8211; URMV3 \u00eenfiin\u021bat\u0103 \u00een unele din hangarele nepreluate de Tractorul Bra\u0219ov \u0219i r\u0103mase de la IAR, inginerul Iosif \u0218ilimon continu\u0103 construc\u021bia de planoare, realiz\u00e2nd planoarele din lemn IS-3 (1953), cu variantele IS-3a, IS-3b, IS-3c si IS-3d (1956), acesta din urm\u0103 fiind realizat \u00een serie \u0219i utilizat \u00een cadrul Aeroclubului Rom\u00e2niei.<br \/>\nTot la URMV3, inginerul Iosif \u0218ilimon a realizat planoarele IS-4 \u0219i IS-11 \u00een 1957, IS-7 \u00een 1958, IS-3e, IS-3f \u0219i IS-9 \u00een 1959 \u0219i motoplanorul IS-9a \u00een 1960.<\/p>\n<p>Acesta era primul motoplanor realizat \u00een Rom\u00e2nia \u0219i printre primele realizate \u00een lume \u0219i a fost echipat cu un motor cu piston cu r\u0103cire cu aer \u0219i cilindri opu\u0219i care era primul motor de avia\u021bie realizat \u00een Rom\u00e2nia dup\u0103 1945 fiind conceput \u0219i construit de colegul de planorism al lui Iosif \u0218ilimon, inginerul Erast Beren\u021ban.<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_image src=&#8221;https:\/\/inginerie.aero\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/IARBrasov-e1495870601618.jpg&#8221; use_border_color=&#8221;off&#8221; border_color=&#8221;#ffffff&#8221; border_style=&#8221;solid&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>\u00cen anul 1956 inginerul Iosif \u0218ilimon ob\u021bine insigna interna\u021bional\u0103 FAI \u201eC\u201c de argint, pentru performan\u021bele sale cu planorul, iar \u00een anul 1960 ca o recunoa\u0219tere a contribu\u021biei sale \u00een domeniul aeronauticii prime\u0219te diploma international\u0103 \u201ePaul Tissandier\u201c acordat\u0103 de Federa\u021bia Aeronautic\u0103 Interna\u021bional\u0103.<br \/>\nDin 1960, dup\u0103 desfiin\u021barea URMV3, inginerul Iosif \u0218ilimon continu\u0103 construc\u021bia planoarelor \u00een cadrul unei sec\u021bii de la Industria local\u0103 Ghimbav (locul \u00een care ast\u0103zi exist\u0103 IAR SA Bra\u0219ov), realiz\u00e2nd planoarele IS-8a (1960), IS-5 (1961), IS-12 \u0219i IS-13 (1962), IS18 (1965) \u0219i IS-19 (1967).<br \/>\nDup\u0103 ce este desfiin\u021bat\u0103 \u0219i aceast\u0103 sec\u021bie ca urmare a directivelor politice ale regimului comunist, prin st\u0103ruin\u021bele sale, inginerul Iosif \u0218ilimon ajutat de prietenii s\u0103i inginerul Erast Beren\u021ban si inginerul Nicolae Costin, reu\u0219e\u0219te s\u0103 determine \u00eenfiin\u021barea unei \u00eentreprinderi de construc\u021bii aeronautice-ICA-Ghimbav la Ghimbav \u00een hangarul Aerocubului Romaniei care a fost ob\u021binut datorit\u0103 sprijinului acordat de comandantul Aeroclubului Ghimbav, pilotul Romeo Vl\u0103descu.<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_image src=&#8221;https:\/\/inginerie.aero\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/1935349.jpg&#8221; use_border_color=&#8221;off&#8221; border_color=&#8221;#ffffff&#8221; border_style=&#8221;solid&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>Dupa \u00eenfiin\u021barea la data de 14 noiembrie 1968 a \u00centreprinderii de Construc\u021bii Aeronautice ICA-Ghimbav, inginerul Iosif \u0218ilimon este numit la \u00eenceput inginer \u0219ef, iar apoi director tehnic \u0219i continu\u0103 realizarea planoarelor IS \u0219i realizeaz\u0103 \u0219i dou\u0103 tipuri de avioane, IS 23 \u0219i IS 24, pentru misiuni ale avia\u021biei utilitare \u0219i ale avia\u021biei sportive.<br \/>\nSeria planoarelor din familia IS a fost continuat\u0103 cu tipurile IS-18\/25 (1969), cu planorul biloc de construc\u021bie metalic\u0103 IS-28 \u0219i cu planorul monoloc de construc\u021bie metalic\u0103 IS-29D (1970), apoi cu planorul monoloc de construc\u021bie metalic\u0103 IS29-E (1971), cu planorul biloc de construc\u021bie metalic\u0103 IS-28B (1973) \u0219i cu planoarele biloc de construc\u021bie metalic\u0103 IS-28B2 (1974), realizate \u00een serie de peste 350 de exemplare, mai mult de 200 dintre ele fiind exportate \u00een \u021b\u0103ri ca SUA (100 de planoare).<br \/>\nConstruc\u021bia de planoare a continuat cu planoare metalice monoloc de tipul IS-29D2 (1975) construite \u00een serie de peste 250 de exemplare, din care 175 pentru export, cu planoarele biloc de construc\u021bie metalic\u0103 IS-32 (1977) \u0219i IS-30 (1978).<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_image src=&#8221;https:\/\/inginerie.aero\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/ICAer-IS-29D.gif&#8221; use_border_color=&#8221;off&#8221; border_color=&#8221;#ffffff&#8221; border_style=&#8221;solid&#8221;]<\/p>\n<p>Din cele peste 600 de planoare de tipul IS realizate la ICA Bra\u0219ov (actuala IAR SA Bra\u0219ov) \u00een cei 35 de ani de la \u00eenfiin\u021bare, o treime este utilizat\u0103 \u00een cadrul Aeroclubului Rom\u00e2niei, iar dou\u0103 treimi, circa 400 de planoare au fost exportate, fiind \u0219i ast\u0103zi utilizate cu succes de planori\u0219tii din multe \u021b\u0103ri ale lumii (SUA, Australia, Anglia, Fran\u021ba, Belgia, Germania, Ungaria, Japonia, Mexic, Canada, Argentina).<br \/>\nCu un deosebit sim\u021b al tendin\u021belor dezvolt\u0103rii avia\u021biei \u00een lume, inginerul Iosif \u0218ilimon lanseaz\u0103 la ICA Bra\u0219ov construc\u021bia de motoplanoare \u00een Rom\u00e2nia realiz\u00e2nd motoplanoarele metalice biloc cu locurile al\u0103turate IS-28M2 (1976) \u0219i motoplanoarele metalice biloc avand posturile de pilotaj amplasate \u00een tandem IS-28M1 (1977).<br \/>\n\u00cen perioada 15 august &#8211; 4 octombrie 1978 cu un motoplanor IS-28M2 se realizeaz\u0103 \u00een premier\u0103 turul celor 48 de state continentale ale SUA.<br \/>\n\u00centre 8 mai &#8211; 3 iulie 1980, trei motoplanoare biloc IS-28M2 realizeaz\u0103 un traseu de 22.000 de kilometri Bra\u0219ov &#8211; Tocumwal (Australia), \u00een presa aviatic\u0103 fiind denumite motoplanoarele maratoniste. I.A.R. S.A. \u2013 Bra\u015fov, \u015fef al sec\u0163iei Montaj general \u015fi \u00eencerc\u0103ri aeronave, a contribuit la montajul a peste 1000 de planoare, motoplanoare, avioane \u015fi elicoptere. Este aeromodelist \u015fi pilot sportiv \u2013 planorist de performan\u0163\u0103 cu insigna F.A.I C argint din 1970. A lucrat 37 de ani ca inginer la S.C. I.A.R. S.A. \u2013 Bra\u015fov \u015fi \u00een perioada 20072011 a fost director general la S.C. Construc\u0163ii Aeronautice S.A. \u2013 Bra\u015fov, \u00een prezent fiind pensionar. Este pre\u015fedinte al sucursalei A.G.I.R. Bra\u015fov \u015fi membru al Consiliului Director al Asocia\u0163iei Generale a Inginerilor din Rom\u00e2nia. In parallel with his activity as engineer, as chief of assembly line at IAR Bra\u0219ov, he creates at S\u00e2npetru Aeroclub in 1949 his first glider IS-2, which will open a series of 32 types of gliders, appreciated nationally and internationally.<\/p><p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_image src=\"https:\/\/inginerie.aero\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/inginerul-iosif-silimon.jpg\" show_in_lightbox=\"off\" url_new_window=\"off\" use_overlay=\"off\" animation=\"left\" sticky=\"off\" align=\"left\" force_fullwidth=\"off\" always_center_on_mobile=\"on\" use_border_color=\"off\" border_color=\"#ffffff\" border_style=\"solid\" \/][et_pb_text background_layout=\"light\" text_orientation=\"left\" use_border_color=\"off\" border_color=\"#ffffff\" border_style=\"solid\"]<\/p><p>As engineer with IAR Bra\u0219ov, he contributes in 1945 to the manufacturing of the first romanian tractor IAR 22.<\/p><p>After 1945, the aviation plant IAR Bra\u0219ov is dismantled by the communist regime imposed by the Soviets and is replaced by a tractor plant named Sovromtractor at first, and then Tractorul Bra\u0219ov, taking the staff, tools and buildings of the IAR factory, near the Bra\u0219ov railway station, where is to be found today.<\/p><p>After 1950, as head of department at the Aicraft Maintenance Plant URMV3, started in some unused hangars by Tractorul Bra\u0219ov and left over from IAR, engineer Iosif \u0218ilimon continues the manufacturing of gliders, creating the wooden gliders IS-3 (1953), with the variants IS-3a, IS-3b, IS-3c and IS-3d (1956), the latter being mass manufactured and used within the Romanian Aeroclub. At URMV3 also, engineer Iosif \u0218ilimon created the gliders IS-4 and IS-11 in 1957, IS-7 in 1958, IS-3e, IS-3f and IS-9 in 1959 and the motor glider IS-9a in 1960.<\/p><p>This was the first motor glider realized in Romania and among the first in the world, being fitted with an air cooling piston engine with Boxer cylinders, the first aviation engine manufactured in Romania after the war, being designed and built by engineer Erast Beren\u021ban, the fellow glider pilot of Iosif \u0218ilimon.<\/p><p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_image src=\"https:\/\/inginerie.aero\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/IARBrasov-e1495870601618.jpg\" show_in_lightbox=\"off\" url_new_window=\"off\" use_overlay=\"off\" animation=\"left\" sticky=\"off\" align=\"left\" force_fullwidth=\"off\" always_center_on_mobile=\"on\" use_border_color=\"off\" border_color=\"#ffffff\" border_style=\"solid\" \/][et_pb_text background_layout=\"light\" text_orientation=\"left\" use_border_color=\"off\" border_color=\"#ffffff\" border_style=\"solid\"]<\/p><p>In 1956 eng. Iosif \u0218ilimon gets his international FAI \u201dC\u201d Silver Badge for his performance in glider flying, and in 1960, as a recognition of his contributionsin aeronautics, he gets the Paul Tissandier international diploma, awarded by the\u00a0<i><a title=\"F\u00e9d\u00e9ration A\u00e9ronautique Internationale\" href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/F%C3%A9d%C3%A9ration_A%C3%A9ronautique_Internationale\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">F\u00e9d\u00e9ration A\u00e9ronautique Internationale<\/a><\/i>.<\/p><p>Since 1960, after the closure of UMRV3, eng. Iosif \u0218ilimon moves his glider manufacturing activity within a local industry section at Ghimbav (the location of today's IAR SA Bra\u0219ov), building IS-8a (1960), IS-5 (1961), IS-12 and IS-13 (1962), IS-18 (1965) and IS-19 (1967) gliders.<\/p><p>After the political decision of the communist regime to close down even this section, eng. Iosif \u0218ilimon, with help from his friends, eng. Erast Beren\u021ban and eng. Nicolae Costin, manages to persuade the authorities to establish an aeronautical constructions company ICA Ghimbav at Ghimbav, in the hangar of the Romanian Aeroclub there, handed over by the commander of the Ghimbav Aeroclub, the pilot Romeo Vl\u0103descu.<\/p><p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_image src=\"https:\/\/inginerie.aero\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/1935349.jpg\" show_in_lightbox=\"off\" url_new_window=\"off\" use_overlay=\"off\" animation=\"left\" sticky=\"off\" align=\"left\" force_fullwidth=\"off\" always_center_on_mobile=\"on\" use_border_color=\"off\" border_color=\"#ffffff\" border_style=\"solid\" \/][et_pb_text background_layout=\"light\" text_orientation=\"left\" use_border_color=\"off\" border_color=\"#ffffff\" border_style=\"solid\"]<\/p><p>After the start on 14 November 1968 of the Enterprise of Aeronautical Constructions ICA Ghimbav, eng. Iosif \u0218ilimon is appointed chief engineer at first, and then technical director, and continues with the design and manufacturing of IS gliders, but also creates two types of airplanes, IS 23 and IS 24 for utility aviation and sports aviation missions.<\/p><p>The IS family of gliders continues with IS-18\/25 (1969), with the two-seater metal glider IS-28 and the single seater metal glider IS-29D (1970), then another single seater metal IS-29E (1971), the two-seater metal glider IS-28B (1973) and IS-28B2 (1974), which have been mass manufactured, more than 350 units being produced, out of which more than 200 have been exported (100 in the USA). The glider manufacturing continued with single seater metal IS-29D2 type (1975), mass manufactured in over 250 units, out of which 175 exported, and also with the two-seater metal gliders IS-32 (1977) and IS-30 (1978).<\/p><p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_image src=\"https:\/\/inginerie.aero\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/ICAer-IS-29D.gif\" show_in_lightbox=\"off\" url_new_window=\"off\" use_overlay=\"off\" animation=\"left\" sticky=\"off\" align=\"left\" force_fullwidth=\"off\" always_center_on_mobile=\"on\" use_border_color=\"off\" border_color=\"#ffffff\" border_style=\"solid\" \/][et_pb_text background_layout=\"light\" text_orientation=\"left\" use_border_color=\"off\" border_color=\"#ffffff\" border_style=\"solid\"]<\/p><p>Out of over 600 IS types gliders manufactured at ICA Bra\u0219ov (currently named IAR SA Bra\u0219ov) in the 35 years from its establishment, one third is in use with the Romanian Airclub, and two thirds, approx. 400 gliders were exported, being successfully used even today by glider pilots all over the world (USA, Australia, UK, France, Belgium, Germany, Hungary, Japan, Mexico, Canada, Argentina). With a special feel for the world aviation trends, eng. Iosif \u0218ilimon pioneers the construction of motor gliders in Romania, at ICA Bra\u0219ov, by designing the side-by-side two-seater metal motor glider IS-28M2 (1976) a tandem two-seater version IS-28M1 (1977).<\/p><p>Between 15 August and 4 October 1978, an IS-28M2 motor glider is used to tour the 48 continental states of the United States of America.<\/p><p>Between 8 May and 3 July 1980, three two-seater IS-28M2 motor gliders fly over 22,000 km from Bra\u0219ov to Tocumwal, Australia, with an outstanding media coverage at the time, under the nick name of marathonist motor gliders\u00a0 (an article about this epic journey may be found <a href=\"http:\/\/www.glidingcaboolture.org.au\/gq60\/romania_to_oz.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">here<\/a>)<\/p><p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_image src=\"https:\/\/inginerie.aero\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/190821.jpg\" show_in_lightbox=\"off\" url_new_window=\"off\" use_overlay=\"off\" animation=\"left\" sticky=\"off\" align=\"left\" force_fullwidth=\"off\" always_center_on_mobile=\"on\" use_border_color=\"off\" border_color=\"#ffffff\" border_style=\"solid\" \/][et_pb_text background_layout=\"light\" text_orientation=\"left\" use_border_color=\"off\" border_color=\"#ffffff\" border_style=\"solid\"]<\/p><p>The pilots Tom Knauft and Robert Tawse manage a world record of 829 kilometers return flight in Pennsylvania, USA with a two-seater IS-28B2 glider.<\/p><p>In Romania, in the Romanian Aeroclub, with the entire fleet of over 250 IS gliders and motor gliders in use for 50 years, a total of approx. 200,000 hours of flight and 800,000 cycles (landings - take-offs), with an average of 15 minutes per cycle. They proved excellent flying qualities, but also a remarkable safety and reliability, which maintain them even today in the national and international competition.<\/p><p>The outstanding performance in the design and manufacturing of gliders exceeded the national borders, ranking among the most remarkable Romanian contributions to world aviation, by continuing the tradition of Traian Vuia, Henri Coand\u0103 and Aurel Vlaicu.<\/p><p>[\/et_pb_text][et_pb_image src=\"https:\/\/inginerie.aero\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/IAR28M2_paris.jpg\" show_in_lightbox=\"off\" url_new_window=\"off\" use_overlay=\"off\" animation=\"left\" sticky=\"off\" align=\"left\" force_fullwidth=\"off\" always_center_on_mobile=\"on\" use_border_color=\"off\" border_color=\"#ffffff\" border_style=\"solid\" \/][et_pb_image src=\"https:\/\/inginerie.aero\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/06\/1134935.jpg\" show_in_lightbox=\"off\" url_new_window=\"off\" use_overlay=\"off\" animation=\"left\" sticky=\"off\" align=\"left\" force_fullwidth=\"off\" always_center_on_mobile=\"on\" use_border_color=\"off\" border_color=\"#ffffff\" border_style=\"solid\" \/][et_pb_text background_layout=\"light\" text_orientation=\"left\" use_border_color=\"off\" border_color=\"#ffffff\" border_style=\"solid\"]<\/p><p>The IS gliders have engineering features which define an individual style, which evolved from classic to modern, matching the world aviation evolution of gliders. Regardless of the age and style, all of them share the robustness and reliability features, which conform the professionalism and passion for aviation, and the love for the life of glider pilots of the engineer and glider pilot Iosif \u0218ilimon.\u201d<\/p><p><strong><em>Eng.dipl.
