Based on the proposal of the Faculty of Aerospace Engineering, the Senate of the University Politehnica of Bucharest awards the title of\u00a0Doctor Honoris Causa to the President of the Romanian Space Agency, Dr. Marius Ioan Piso. The ceremony will take place in the Senate Room on Friday, September the 13th, 2019, at 13:00. We invite the academic community to join us at this event.<\/p>\n
Marius-Ioan Piso is the leading personality of the Romanian space scientific research, serving as the head of the Romanian Space Agency (ROSA). Since 1998 he is Research Professor in the Institute of Space Science Bucharest. He took the degree of Doctor in Physics of the \u201cAlexandru Ioan Cuza\u201d University of Iasi in 1994 and he graduated the \u201cBabes-Bolyai\u201d University of Cluj with a degree in Physics. In 1999 he graduated the National Defense College in Bucharest. Since 1990 he worked for the establishment of the Romanian Space Agency and became its first executive director since 1995 and appointed President and Chief Executive officer since 2004. He did early work in gravitational radiation and space-time physics. He also performed experimental work in motion measurement and developed a class of inertial sensors and actuators with nanomagnetic fluids, authoring more than 20 patents and 40 papers.<\/p>\n

Marius-Ioan Piso este personalitatea de v\u00e2rf a cercet\u0103rii spa\u021biale din Rom\u00e2nia, pre\u0219edintele Agen\u021biei Spa\u021biale Rom\u00e2ne (ROSA) din 1998 \u0219i profesor angrenat \u00een cerecetarea \u0219tiin\u021bific\u0103 \u00een cadrul Institutului de \u0218tiin\u021be Spa\u021biale. Este doctor \u00een fizic\u0103 al Universit\u0103\u021bii \u201cAlexandru Ioan Cuza\u201d din Ia\u0219i din 1994. \u00cen 1999 a absolvit Colegiul Na\u021bional de Ap\u0103rare din Bucure\u0219ti. Din 1990 s-a implicat \u00een crearea Agen\u021biei Spa\u021biale Rom\u00e2ne \u0219i a devenit primul director executiv al acesteia \u00een 1995. Din 2004 a fost numit Pre\u0219edinte \u0219i Director Executiv. Lucr\u0103rile sale \u0219tiin\u021bifice s-au concentrat pe radia\u021bia gravita\u021bional\u0103 \u0219i pe continuum-ul spa\u021biu-timp. De asemenea, a desf\u0103\u0219urat cercet\u0103ri experimentale \u00een m\u0103surarea mi\u0219c\u0103rii \u0219i a dezvoltat o clas\u0103 de senzori \u0219i actuatori iner\u021biali cu fluide nanomagnetice, fiind autorul a peste 20 de brevete de inven\u021bie \u0219i 40 de lucr\u0103ri.<\/p>
