De obicei, cei care scriu despre ea se opresc asupra zilei de 21 mai 1897. Unele\u00a0documente spun altceva. N\u0103scut\u0103 l\u00e2ng\u0103 Tecuci, \u00een familia unor \u0163\u0103rani din H\u0103n\u0163e\u015fti (comuna Buciumeni), a fost martor\u0103 la unul dintre primele raiduri aeriene ale unui aviator militar rom\u00e2n: locotenentul Gheorghe Negrescu (1888-1977). Ridic\u00e2nd privirea spre cer, ca to\u0163i cei care au auzit zgomotul f\u0103cut de motorul aparatului Farman III, Smaranda \u015fi-a spus c\u0103 \u015fi ea, c\u00e2nd va cre\u015fte, va deveni aviatoare. De\u015fi primele aviatoare au ap\u0103rut \u00een Fran\u0163a, Anglia, Rusia \u015fi S.U.A. \u00eenc\u0103 de pe la 1910-1911, \u00een Rom\u00e2nia lucrurile au stat diferit.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/adevarul.ro\/assets\/adevarul.ro\/MRImage\/2015\/03\/26\/5513e183448e03c0fdecd810\/646x404.gif\" \/><\/p>\n<p>C\u00e2nd, \u00een 1928, Smaranda Br\u0103escu a f\u0103cut cunoscut faptul c\u0103 dore\u015fte s\u0103 devin\u0103 aviatoare (sau, \u00een limbajul vremii, pilot\u0103), nicio alt\u0103 rom\u00e2nc\u0103 nu ob\u0163inuse brevetul \u00een \u0163ar\u0103. Luni la r\u00e2nd, Smaranda a b\u0103tut la u\u015file m\u0103rimilor din aeronautica militar\u0103 (\u015fcoli civile de zbor nu existau, \u00een acel moment, \u00een Rom\u00e2nia). Probabil c\u0103 mul\u0163i ar fi renun\u0163at \u00een fa\u0163a at\u00e2tor bariere. Nu \u015fi Smaranda, care a g\u0103sit o cale indirect\u0103 de a se apropia de avia\u0163ie: para\u015futismul. A \u00eemprumutat bani de la o cuno\u015ftin\u0163\u0103 \u015fi a mers la Berlin, la renumita fabric\u0103 de para\u015fute Schr\u00f6der, unde Otto Heinecke era instructor. Rom\u00e2nca \u015fi-a cump\u0103rat para\u015futa cu num\u0103rul 7198; era din m\u0103tase alb\u0103, iar sacul de protec\u0163ie era kaki. A intrat astfel \u00een posesia obiectului care i-a adus nenum\u0103rate satisfac\u0163ii.<\/p>\n<p>Era 5 iulie 1928. A mers pe un aerodrom din apropiere \u015fi a urcat \u00eentrun avion \u00eenso\u0163it\u0103 de instructorul Heinecke. A venit apoi momentul pe care \u00eel a\u015fteptase mai multe s\u0103pt\u0103m\u00e2ni, dar de care acum \u00eei era team\u0103. Abia la al treilea \u201eSpringen-Sie!\u201d al lui Heinecke \u015fi-a f\u0103cut curaj \u015fi s-a aruncat \u00een gol; c\u00e2teva secunde mai t\u00e2rziu a sim\u0163it cum i s-a deschis para\u015futa. Rom\u00e2nia devenea a patra \u0163ar\u0103 european\u0103 care avea o para\u015futist\u0103, dup\u0103 Fran\u0163a, Cehoslovacia \u015fi Elve\u0163ia.<\/p>\n<p>Pentru majoritatea rom\u00e2nilor care au citit despre ea \u00een pres\u0103 era o fiin\u0163\u0103 ciudat\u0103, de ne\u00een\u0163eles. \u00cen satul ei, \u0163\u0103ranii comentau c\u0103 \u201efata lu\u2019 Br\u0103escu, care de mic\u0103 avea apuc\u0103turi rele, de b\u0103ie\u0163oi, a s\u0103rit cu umbrela din arioplan\u201d (\u00een zona rural\u0103, umbrel\u0103 sau fust\u0103 erau dou\u0103 dintre denumirile utilizate \u00een epoc\u0103 pentru para\u015fut\u0103).<\/p>\n<h4><em><strong><u>Recordul mondial la saltul cu para\u0219uta<\/u><\/strong><\/em><\/h4>\n<p>Chiar dac\u0103 au existat perioade dificile dup\u0103 numeroase accident\u0103ri, Smaranda era hot\u0103r\u00e2t\u0103 s\u0103 treac\u0103 la urm\u0103torul nivel. Dup\u0103 recuper\u0103ri, \u00ee\u0219i cump\u0103r\u0103 din Berlin o para\u0219ut\u0103 creat\u0103 special pentru altitudini mari. Viza dobor\u00e2rea recordului na\u0163ional. Revenind la Bucure\u015fti, \u015fi-a pierdut vara \u00een audien\u0163e, solicit\u00e2nd un avion care s\u0103 o ridice dincolo de \u015fase mii de metri. A ob\u0163inut promisiuni, doar at\u00e2t. \u00cen cele din urm\u0103, a fost ajutat\u0103 de Gheorghe Negrescu, cel care, \u00een 1912, trezise \u00een Smaranda dorin\u0163a de a se face aviatoare. Smaranda a realizat c\u0103, dac\u0103 s\u0103rea \u00een acel moment, ar fi dobor\u00e2t at\u00e2t recordul na\u0163ional, c\u00e2t \u015fi pe cel mondial feminin, care era de 4.800 de metri. \u015ei-a f\u0103cut curaj \u015fi s-a aruncat \u00een gol. Para\u0219uta s-a deschis imediat.<\/p>\n<p>\u201e&#8230;A\u015fa, cu bra\u0163ele cramponate pe barograf, am str\u0103b\u0103tut mai mult de 5.000 de metri, c\u0103z\u00e2nd din balansurile v\u00e2nturilor \u00een golurile ame\u0163itoare de aer, prin care m\u0103 pr\u0103bu\u015feam fulger\u0103tor spre p\u0103m\u00e2nt, cu para\u015futa pe jum\u0103tate \u00eenchis\u0103. Centura m\u0103 str\u00e2ngea dureros, para\u015futa abia sc\u0103pat\u0103 din golurile de aer, m\u0103 smucea crunt \u015fi fo\u015fnetul m\u0103t\u0103sii albe se amesteca \u00een aer cu vibra\u0163iile avionului, care \u00eemi da t\u00e2rcoale. &#8230;\u00a0La 50 de metri de p\u0103m\u00e2nt am izbutit s\u0103 fac o sfor\u0163are \u015fi s\u0103-mi scot ochelarii. \u00cen clipa \u00een care \u00eemi aruncam din m\u00e2n\u0103 \u015fi una din m\u0103nu\u015fi, am c\u0103zut \u00een lanul de porumb, peste care am avut vremea s\u0103 v\u0103d poposind \u015fi m\u0103tasea alb\u0103 a para\u015futei\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cobor\u00e2rea a durat 21 de minute. A doua zi, regele Carol al II-lea i-a acordat Ordinul \u201eVirtutea Aeronautic\u0103\u201d, clasa Crucea de Aur.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.capodopere2019.ro\/images\/watermarked\/detailed\/0\/012_Smaranda_Braescu_decorata_de_Carol_II._Col._Dan_Antoniu.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Acesta a reprezentat un eveniment important, care dovedea faptul c\u0103 meritele i-au fost recunoscute, iar acest lucru i-a dat curaj. Probabil c\u0103 nu au fost mul\u0163i surprin\u015fi c\u00e2nd t\u00e2n\u0103ra a anun\u0163at c\u0103 inten\u0163ioneaz\u0103 s\u0103 doboare \u015fi recordul absolut la saltul cu para\u015futa, pe care \u00eel de\u0163inea un american care se aruncase din avion de la 6.450 de metri, cu doar 250 de metri mai sus de \u00een\u0103l\u0163imea de la care s\u0103rise Smaranda. Ideea ei a captat interesul opiniei publice. Ziarul \u201eUniversul\u201d a anun\u0163at c\u0103 o sprijin\u0103, lans\u00e2nd o list\u0103 de subscrip\u0163ie. Cu banii care s-au str\u00e2ns \u2013 \u015fi cu o mie de dolari din partea B\u0103ncii Na\u0163ionale a Rom\u00e2niei \u2013, Smaranda a p\u0103r\u0103sit \u0163ara la 14 decembrie 1931 \u015fi s-a \u00eendreptat spre Statele Unite.<\/p>\n<p>Dupa ce a r\u0103mas surprins\u0103 de primirea de care a avut parte \u00een SUA \u0219i dup\u0103 numeroase bancehte \u0219i ceaiuri, unele oferite \u00een cinstea ei, i s-a sups c\u0103 nu poate s\u0103ri cu para\u015futa, pentru c\u0103 nu vor avea avioane capabile s\u0103 ajung\u0103 la \u00een\u0103l\u0163imi mari. Timp de o lun\u0103, a fost imposibil pentru rom\u00e2nc\u0103 s\u0103 g\u0103seasc\u0103 un avion. A \u00eenceput s\u0103 cread\u0103 c\u0103, de fapt, persoanele joviale care- i vorbeau admirativ nu a\u015fteptau dec\u00e2t s\u0103-\u015fi termine banii \u015fi s\u0103 plece acas\u0103. Spre norocul ei, cineva i-a trimis o telegram\u0103 prin care a informat-o c\u0103 \u00een California, la Sacramento, \u00eentre San Francisco \u015fi Mun\u0163ii Sierra Nevada, se afl\u0103 o c\u00e2mpie care \u00eendepline\u015fte toate condi\u0163iile.<\/p>\n<p>Ajung\u00e2nd la San Francisco, a luat leg\u0103tura cu cei de la aeroaerodromul Bay, de l\u00e2ng\u0103 or\u0103\u015felul Alameda. C\u00e2nd, pe la \u00eenceputul prim\u0103verii anului 1932, a anun\u0163at c\u0103 este preg\u0103tit\u0103 de marea \u00eencercare, i s-a cerut s\u0103 poarte pe piept o a doua para\u015fut\u0103, \u201epentru Smaranda, \u00een Statele Unite ale Americii: \u00een Florida&#8230; &#8230;\u0219i \u00een California 20 historia iunie 2017 orice eventualitate\u201d. Av\u00e2nd acum dou\u0103 para\u015fute (pe a ei, de fabrica\u0163ie german\u0103, \u00een spate, iar pe cea de fabrica\u0163ie american\u0103, pe piept) \u015fi purt\u00e2nd un costum alb, de piele, a avut nevoie de trei oameni care s-o urce \u00een aparatul de zbor. Nici dup\u0103 cinci \u00eencerc\u0103ri, care s-au \u00eentins pe parcursul a dou\u0103 luni, Smaranda nu a reu\u015fit s\u0103 sar\u0103 de la \u00een\u0103l\u0163imea dorit\u0103.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/www.formula-as.ro\/magazine\/attachments\/959\/16a_1300614492-large.jpg\" width=\"458\" height=\"521\" \/>Smaranda a decolat pentru a \u015fasea tentativ\u0103 de a stabili un nou record mondial de \u00een\u0103l\u0163ime la saltul cu para\u015futa. Avionul a urcat la 7.000 de metri, apoi a atins 7.100. Tot ce mai avea de f\u0103cut era&#8230; s\u0103 sar\u0103. Trei ani \u015fi jum\u0103tate mai t\u00e2rziu, ziaristul Ion Dragomir a intervievat-o \u00eendelung \u015fi a descris cu talent adjudecarea recordului:<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201eSe uit\u0103 \u00een jos. Avionul plutea deasupra c\u00e2mpiei Sacramento. Oxigenul n\u0103v\u0103lea \u00een masc\u0103 regulat, cu mirosul lui greoi de benzin\u0103 ars\u0103. Pilotul conduce lini\u015ftit avionul 7 200, 7 300, 7 400, 7 500 de metri. \u00cen clipa aceea, pilotul se \u00eentoarse spre Smaranda cu figura congestionat\u0103, cu ochii holba\u0163i: \u2014 Not oxygen! Nu mai am oxigen. S-a terminat! Ca s\u0103-\u015fi r\u0103scumpere gre\u015feala din trecut, c\u00e2nd se \u00eemb\u0103tase, nenorocitul f\u0103cuse actul eroic de a zbura p\u00e2n\u0103 la limita rezisten\u0163ei pl\u0103m\u00e2nilor lui, de\u015fi oxigenul i se ispr\u0103vise. Smaranda Br\u0103escu \u00eel v\u0103zu c\u0103sc\u00e2nd gura mare \u2013 ca un om care se \u00eeneac\u0103 \u2013 apoi capul i se fr\u00e2nse pe piept&#8230; Le\u015finase! Ce s-a petrecut \u00een urm\u0103, a fost fulger\u0103tor. \u00cenainte ca avionul s\u0103 fi \u00eenceput a cobor\u00ee, para\u015futista se scul\u0103 \u00een picioare, deschiz\u00e2nd larg robinetul de oxigen \u015fi aspir\u00e2nd cu aviditate gazul d\u0103t\u0103tor de via\u0163\u0103. Avea, de acum, destul\u0103 provizie \u00een pl\u0103m\u00e2ni. Scoase masca \u015fi o l\u0103s\u0103 l\u00e2ng\u0103 butelie. Se t\u00e2r\u00ee spre u\u015fa deschis\u0103 a carlingii \u015fi ie\u015fi afar\u0103. &#8230; Puse un picior pe roata avionului, privi \u00een jos \u015fi-\u015fi dete drumul. Smaranda Br\u0103escu nu c\u0103zu dec\u00e2t vreo cincizeci de metri. De\u015fi la \u00een\u0103l\u0163imea aceea aerul era c\u00e2t se poate de rar, para\u015futa lui Heinecke se deschise \u00eendat\u0103. &#8230; \u00cen primele clipe, Smaranda nu v\u0103zu nimic. Aerul din pl\u0103m\u00e2ni \u015fi oxigenul cald, \u00een contact cu atmosfera rece, produseser\u0103 o pojghi\u0163\u0103 de ghea\u0163\u0103 care [\u00eei] \u00eentunecase ochelarii. \u00cei scoase cu o smucitur\u0103 \u015fi \u00eei azv\u00e2rli. &#8230; \u015ei apoi, \u00eei era at\u00e2t de frig. Dac\u0103 nu trec de lac, sunt pierdut\u0103.<br \/>\nDesf\u0103cu para\u015futa american\u0103, prins\u0103 de piept, n\u0103d\u0103jduind c\u0103, sus\u0163inut\u0103 cu ambele para\u015fute, va pluti ceva mai mult \u00een aer. Dar blestematul instrument, \u00een loc s\u0103 se deschid\u0103 \u00eenvolt, c\u0103zu \u00een jos, ca o zdrean\u0163\u0103, tr\u0103g\u00e2nd-o \u015fi mai departe, \u00eenspre p\u0103m\u00e2nt. Dar un v\u00e2nt binef\u0103c\u0103tor o \u00eempinse din spate. Peste c\u00e2teva clipe, lacul r\u0103mase \u00een urm\u0103. &#8230; Jos se \u00eentindea un lan de secar\u0103. Se a\u015fternu pe p\u0103m\u00e2nt u\u015for, respir\u0103 o dat\u0103 ad\u00e2nc \u015fi sim\u0163i c\u0103 le\u015fin\u0103. Smaranda Br\u0103escu b\u0103tuse recordul mondial de lansare cu para\u015futa, s\u0103rind [de la] 24 000 de picioare, deasupra c\u00e2mpiei Sacramento din California (USA)\u201d. (\u201eUniversul\u201d, 6 noiembrie 1935) &#8230; Chiar \u00een acel moment s-a aflat c\u0103 Smaranda este \u00een via\u0163\u0103, la o ferm\u0103 &#8230; Era gloria deplin\u0103\u201d.<\/em><\/p>\n<h4><\/h4>\n<h3><em><strong><u>\u00cen sf\u00e2r\u015fit, a reu\u0219it!<\/u><\/strong><\/em><\/h3>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/historia.adhst.ro\/img\/articles\/2017\/07\/20\/brevet.jpg?v=1\" alt=\"Imagini pentru smaranda br\u0103escu\" width=\"659\" height=\"666\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Dup\u0103 ce a ob\u0163inut recordul mondial la saltul cu para\u015futa, directorul ziarului \u201eUniversul\u201d, a ini\u0163iat, la Bucure\u015fti, o nou\u0103 chet\u0103. Banii str\u00e2n\u015fi au ajuns la Smaranda. Era o sum\u0103 important\u0103 care \u00eei permitea s\u0103\u015fi prelungeasc\u0103 \u015federea \u00een S.U.A. \u015fi s\u0103 devin\u0103 aviatoare. Ceea ce s-a \u015fi \u00eent\u00e2mplat.<\/p>\n<p>La 8 octombrie 1932, la \u015fcoala de zbor de la Roosevelt Field, New York, Smaranda Br\u0103escu a ob\u0163inut mult r\u00e2vnitul brevet, devenind a treia aviatoare a Rom\u00e2niei Sosit\u0103 \u00een \u0163ar\u0103 \u00een martie 1933, a decis s\u0103 renun\u0163e la para\u015futism (ultimul salt a avut loc \u00een vara aceluia\u015fi an, la Constan\u0163a) \u015fi s\u0103\u015fi cumpere un avion pentru raiduri interna\u0163ionale. Banii s-au adunat greu. Rom\u00e2nia traversa o perioad\u0103 de criz\u0103 economic\u0103 \u015fi pu\u0163ine persoane erau dispuse s\u0103 fac\u0103 dona\u0163ii. Totu\u015fi, Banca Na\u0163ional\u0103 i-a oferit 150.000 de lei, Prim\u0103ria Capitalei al\u0163i 150.000, iar Ministerul de Finan\u0163e \u00eenc\u0103 100.000. Alte institu\u0163ii sau persoane particulare au oferit sume mai mici. \u00cen toamna anului 1935 a intrat \u00een posesia unui avion Miles Hawk Major, fabricat \u00een Anglia, pe care l-a botezat \u201eAurel Vlaicu\u201d. Cu acesta, \u00een prim\u0103vara anului 1936, a ob\u0163inut cea mai important\u0103 realizare ca aviatoare: traversarea M\u0103rii Mediterane. Dar cea mai mare realizarea a Smarandei a fost raidul Bucure\u0219ti-Roma-Tripoli, un zbor pe o rut\u0103 dificila, rar aleas\u0103 de pilo\u021bii cu avioane mult mai puternice.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/adevarul.ro\/assets\/adevarul.ro\/MRImage\/2016\/03\/09\/56e06a605ab6550cb8ac9552\/646x404.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<p>La intrarea Rom\u00e2niei \u00een cel de-al Doilea R\u0103zboi Mondial ea era unul dintre instructorii primei companii de para\u015futi\u015fti a armatei rom\u00e2ne. \u00cen toamna anului 1942 se afla \u00een celebra escadril\u0103 sanitar\u0103, pe frontul Stalingradului, al\u0103turi de alte aviatoare rom\u00e2nce. Misiunea fetelor era s\u0103 transporte, cu avionul, pe cei r\u0103ni\u0163i \u2013 din spatele liniei \u00eent\u00e2i, p\u00e2n\u0103 la spitalele de campanie. Bombardamentul din 4 aprilie 1944 a g\u0103sit-o \u00een cartierul Bucure\u015ftii Noi. Bombele au c\u0103zut \u00een apropierea casei unde locuia. Dup\u0103 bombardament, a p\u0103r\u0103sit Capitala. \u00cen spaima \u015fi confuzia acelor zile, Smaranda Br\u0103escu \u015fi-a pierdut bagajele (sau i-au fost furate) \u00een gar\u0103 la Pietro\u015fi\u0163a (jud. D\u00e2mbovi\u0163a). Iar odat\u0103 cu acestea, a pierdut \u015fi para\u015futa Heinecke, care \u00eei adusese cele dou\u0103 recorduri din 1931 \u015fi 1932! \u015ei pierdut\u0103 a r\u0103mas, pentru totdeauna.<\/p>\n<p>Finalul vie\u0163ii este pu\u0163in cunoscut. Din dosarul ei, existent la CNSAS, rezult\u0103 c\u0103 la 20 iunie 1946 a fost dat\u0103 \u00een urm\u0103rire general\u0103 de poli\u0163ie, care trecuse de partea guvern\u0103rii comuniste (cel care a trimis circulara a fost chiar Alexandru Nikolski, un zbir al anilor negri ce vor veni). Era acuzat\u0103 c\u0103 f\u0103cea parte dintr-un grup de militari care ar fi dorit s\u0103 lupte \u00eempotriva guvernului Groza, \u00een folosul na\u0163ional-\u0163\u0103r\u0103ni\u015ftilor.<\/p>\n<p>Fosta para\u015futist\u0103 \u015fi aviatoare nu a fost g\u0103sit\u0103 niciodat\u0103. A reu\u015fit s\u0103 se ascund\u0103 cu ajutorul unor vechi leg\u0103turi din lumea religioas\u0103 (preo\u0163i \u015fi c\u0103lug\u0103ri\u0163e).
