The story of the Faculty of Aerospace Engineering is mainly the story of its students.<\/p>\n
Daniela Andrioaie is a 3rd Year student of the Faculty of Aerospace Engineering, Aeronautical Constructions program of studies. She came to this faculty from a pretty long distance, from Com\u0103ne\u0219ti, Bac\u0103u county. She graduated high school there with 9.88 out of 10 average grade, the Theoretical High School \u201dSpiru Haret\u201d in Moine\u0219ti, sciences profile (mathematics – computer science). She defeated the distance and the difficulty of the admission out of passion for aviation. At the admission contest (written test at mathematics and physics) she got 9.57. She finished the 1st Year with an unusually high grade average for this faculty: 9.85. She spend her summer vacation flying at the Romanian Airclub and doing internship at Aerostar Bac\u0103u.<\/p>\n
In the 2nd Year she got Performance scholarship in the 1st Semester (average grade 9.72) and merit scholarship in the 2nd Semester, earning 700 Lei\/month. Given her academic records (scholarship average grade 9.38), in the 3rd Year she continued to get the merit scholarship. Since the 1st Semester 2017-2018\u00a0Daniela is away to study with one of the best aerospace engineering schools in Europe, the ISAE SupAero, in Toulouse, France, through an ERASMUS+ scholarship. Daniela writes in a message sent from Toulouse that \u201dit is very hard, but I am super motivated to study and I integrated very well among the French students. I totally dedicate my time to study, but I like it very much what I am doing\u201d and she goes on \u201dI am happy for this opportunity to be here, and I ma grateful to the University Politehnica for this\u201d. The claim that she is totally dedicating her time to study may be an exaggeration, since she joined the SupAero basketball team (she even got elected vice president Club basket), in the skydiving team and also continues her flying program, and the facebook profile photo shows a parachute jump of hers.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
She got to the Student Council (BDE bureau des \u00e9l\u00e8ves), responsible of the school’s partnerships. On 16 of March 2018 she was selected to represent SupAero in Paris, for the largest military school competition in France (TSGED). We picked Daniela’s case to illustrate something relevant on the Faculty of Aerospace Engineering: here, as in the whole aerospace community, people love aviation and are passionate about what they are doing. That is giving them the energy to overcome the obstacles easy to imagine for such a difficult school. Like Distinguished Prof. Corneliu Berbente, Dean of this faculty between 1980-1988 and 2000-2004 used to put it: \u201dThe eloquent motto of our Dean’s Office is that we rather fail a student than an airplane\u201d<\/em>.<\/p>\n Another success story belongs to the 4th Year student Mihnea Gall, of the Propulsion Systems program of studies. He got performance scholarship of 1200 Lei\/month. Mihnea is from C\u00e2mpina, where he graduated National College „Nicolae Grigorescu”, mathematics -computer science (science profile) with an average grade 9.91 out of 10. At the admission he got an average grade of 9.98 and in the 1st Year he managed the incredible average grade of 10! In the 2nd and the 3rd Years his grades were 9.88 and 9.94, making to the best faculty students league.<\/p>\n On 8 June 2017<\/p>\n On 8 June 2017 at the Air and Space Museum of Paris Le Bourget, Mihnea Gall was the youngest member of the students team Space Piranhas of the Faculty of Aerospace Engineering, together with Sebastian Milu-Vaidesegan (team leader),\u00a0Monica Manole, Sorin P\u0103un and Adina Ungureanu. They won the prestigious prize\u00a0Airbus Safran Launchers<\/a>, awarded by the European Astronautic Club, with support from Airbus, European Space Agency, Dassault Aviation, GIFAS, Airbus Safran Launchers and Thales. In the\u00a0Student Aerospace Challenge, the participants were aerospace engineering students from large European university centers, from Spain, Portugal, France, United Kingdom, Italy and the Netherlands. This prize rewards the passion the the creativity of our students, but also the performance and the tradition of the Romanian school of aerospace engineering.<\/p>\n The paper which got our students the first prize was on redesigning an launcher engine for a suborbital flight. The event catches the booming dynamics of this field of scientific research and technology development: astronautics, where the Faculty of Aerospace Engineering is fully engaged. Since 2011, when Romania became a full member of the European Space Agency (ESA), astronautics started to play an important role in Romania, both through ESA research and development programs, and through the opening of branches of space technology Hi Tech companies, such as GMV Spain, HPS Germany, Deimos Portugal, and also the expansion of the Institute of Space Sciences in M\u0103gurele.<\/p>\n There were more significant events in the last year in the Faculty of Aerospace Engineering, such as signing of agreements with\u00a0Fokker Engineering Romania<\/a>, with\u00a0Romanian Aviation Academy<\/a>\u00a0and with\u00a0EUROCONTROL<\/a>, starting of Fokker Academy practical training, the\u00a0Best Aerospace Engineering Employer Award<\/a>\u00a0won by Aerostar SA Bac\u0103u, the\u00a0CEAS Conference<\/a>\u00a0of the European researchers in aerospace engineering, organized for the first time in Bucharest, and internship agreements with the most relevant 30 aerospace organizations in Romania, plus 7 abroad. However, if we were to pick just a single event, it is the one illustrated below:\u00a0the first flights of the students<\/a>\u00a0after 25 years of interruption of flying practice, on 27-29 August 2017, at Clinceni Aerodrome. This was made possible with funds from the Ministry of National Education for students extracurricular activities, with the help of the Romanian Airclub and the European aerospace students organization Euroavia, the Bucharest branch. Flying practice in the Year II summer has been a tradition of this faculty since the beginning until the 90s, when it was abandoned due to very high costs. For the faculty, reconnecting with this tradition was perhaps the most significant event. It matters a lot to an aviation engineer to take the stick in his \/ her own hand, to understand the difficulty of flying, to feel directly the emotion and the fascination of flying.<\/p>\n What does the future offers to these well trained, valuable, passionate young future engineers? The aerospace constructions industry in Romania is steadily growing since 2014, from Euro 300 mil. turnover to 500 mil. that is over +20% annually! It is one of the fastest growing sectors of the national economy. The new investements exceed Euro 70 mil. (Airbus Helicopters Bra\u0219ov, Sonaca Moldovene\u0219ti, Cluj). Also, Aerostar SA Bac\u0103u started to invest in their new plant in Ia\u0219i, which will start production in 2021. The Romanian air transport industry approaches Euro 1 billion, the airports showing the greatest dynamics, averaging over +20% annually. A considerable number of engineers work in this industry, which includes the maintenance and repair divisions of the airline operators. The aviation branch of the military industry, including on-board and ground aviation equipment is also promissing to soar, more acquisitions being announced from the 2% national GDP defence bill. A venit la facultate de la o distan\u021b\u0103 destul de mare, din Com\u0103ne\u0219ti, jud. Bac\u0103u. Acolo a absolvit bacalaureatul cu 9,88 la Liceul Teoretic \u201dSpiru Haret\u201d din Moine\u0219ti, profilul real (matematic\u0103-informatic\u0103). A \u00eenvins distan\u021ba, precum \u0219i dificultatea admiterii, din pasiune pentru avia\u021bie. La concursul de admitere (examen scris la matematic\u0103 \u0219i fizic\u0103) a intrat cu 9,57. Anul I l-a absolvit cu o medie neobi\u0219nuit de mare pentru aceast\u0103 facultate: 9,85. Vacan\u021ba de var\u0103 \u0219i-a petrecut-o zbur\u00e2nd la Aeroclubul Rom\u00e2niei \u0219i \u00een practic\u0103 la Aerostar Bac\u0103u.<\/p> \u00cen anul II a fost bursier\u0103 de performan\u021b\u0103 \u00een semestrul I (media 9,72) \u0219i de merit \u00een semestrul II, cu o burs\u0103 de 700 lei\/lun\u0103. Date fiind rezultatele ei academice (media de burs\u0103 \u00a09,38), \u00een anul III a ob\u021binut \u00een continuare bursa de merit. Din semestrul I 2017-2018 Daniela este plecat\u0103 la studiu la una dintre cele mai bune facult\u0103\u021bi de inginerie aerospa\u021bial\u0103 din Europa, la ISAE Supaero, Toulouse, Fran\u021ba printr-o burs\u0103 ERASMUS+. Daniela spune \u00eentr-un mesaj trimis de la Toulouse c\u0103 \u201deste foarte dificil, dar sunt super motivat\u0103 s\u0103 studiez \u0219i m-am integrat foarte bine printre studen\u021bii francezi. \u00cemi dedic absolut tot timpul studiului, dar \u00eemi place enorm ceea ce fac\u201d \u0219i adaug\u0103 \u201dM\u0103 bucur c\u0103 am ocazia sa fiu aici \u0219i sunt recunoasc\u0103toare Politehnicii pentru asta\u201d. Afirma\u021bia c\u0103 \u00ee\u0219i dedic\u0103 absolut tot timpul studiului poate fi o exagerare, pentru c\u0103 a intrat \u0219i \u00een echipa de baschet a SupAero (a fost aleas\u0103 chiar vicepre\u0219edinte Club basket), \u00een echipa de skydiving \u0219i para\u0219utism \u0219i de asemenea \u00ee\u0219i continu\u0103 programul de pilotaj, iar poza de profil pe facebook este de la un salt cu para\u0219uta.<\/p> A ajuns s\u0103 fac\u0103 parte din BDE (bureau des \u00e9l\u00e8ves), responsabil de parteneriatele \u0219colii. Pe 16 martie 2018 este delegat\u0103 la Paris s\u0103 reprezinte Isae SupAero la cea mai mare competi\u021bie \u00eentre \u0219colile militare ale Fran\u021bei (TSGED). Am ales cazul Danielei pentru a ilustra ceva relevant despre Facultatea de Inginerie Aerospa\u021bial\u0103: aici, ca \u00een \u00eentreaga comunitate aerospa\u021bial\u0103, oamenii iubesc avia\u021bia \u0219i sunt pasiona\u021bi de ceea ce fac. Asta le d\u0103 energia de a \u00eenvinge obsacolele u\u0219or de imaginat pentru o facultate at\u00e2t de grea. A\u0219a cum spunea Prof. emerit Corneliu Berbente, decan al acestei facult\u0103\u021bii \u00eentre 1980-1988 \u0219i 2000-2004: \u201dLa decanat avem \u00een ton \/ Un motto elocvent \/ Dec\u00e2t s\u0103 pice un avion \/ Mai bine un student\u201d<\/em>.<\/p> O alt\u0103 poveste de succes este cea a studentului din anul IV la programul Sisteme de Propulsie, Mihnea Gall. El este bursier de performan\u021b\u0103, primind 1200 lei\/lun\u0103. Mihnea este din C\u00e2mpina, unde a absolvit Colegiul Na\u0163ional \"Nicolae Grigorescu\", matematic\u0103-informatic\u0103 (profilul real) cu media de bacalaureat 9,91. La admitere a ob\u021binut media 9,98 \u0219i \u00een anul I a avut incredibila medie 10! \u00cen anii II \u0219i III, mediile lui au fost 9,88 \u0219i 9,94, fiind unul dintre cei mai buni studen\u021bi ai facult\u0103\u021bii.<\/p> Pe 8 iunie 2017 la Muzeul Aerului \u0219i al Spa\u021biului de la Paris Le Bourget, Mihnea Gall era cel mai t\u00e2n\u0103r component al echipei de studen\u021bi ai Facult\u0103\u021bii de Inginerie Aerospa\u021bial\u0103, Space Piranhas, din care mai f\u0103ceau parte Sebastian Milu-Vaidesegan (liderul echipei), Monica Manole, Sorin P\u0103un \u0219i Adina Ungureanu, to\u021bi de la programul Sisteme de Propulsie anul IV. Ei au c\u00e2\u0219tigat prestigiosul premiu Airbus Safran Launchers<\/a>, acordat de Clubul Astronautic European, cu sus\u021binerea Airbus, European Space Agency, Dassault Aviation, GIFAS, Airbus Safran Launchers \u0219i Thales. \u00cen competi\u021bia Student Aerospace Challenge s-au aflat studen\u021bi de inginerie aerospa\u021bial\u0103 din mari centre universitare europene, din Spania, Portugalia, Fran\u021ba, Marea Britanie, Italia \u0219i Olanda. Acest premiu r\u0103spl\u0103te\u0219te pasiunea \u0219i creativitatea studen\u021bilor no\u0219tri, dar \u0219i performan\u021ba \u0219i tradi\u021bia \u0219colii rom\u00e2ne\u0219ti de inginerie aerospa\u021bial\u0103.<\/p> Lucrarea cu care s-au remarcat studen\u021bii no\u0219tri era reproiectarea unui motor rachet\u0103 pentru o misiune suborbital\u0103. Premiul surprinde o latur\u0103 \u00een plin\u0103 expansiune a cercet\u0103rii \u0219tiin\u021bifice \u0219i dezvolt\u0103rii tehnologice \u00een care Facultatea de Inginerie Aerospa\u021bial\u0103 este angrenat\u0103 la maximum: astronautica. Din 2011, de c\u00e2nd Rom\u00e2nia a devenit membru plin al Agen\u021biei Spa\u021biale Europene (ESA), astronautica a \u00eenceput s\u0103 joace un rol important \u00een Rom\u00e2nia, at\u00e2t prin programele de cercetare \u0219i dezvoltare ale ESA, c\u00e2t \u0219i prin deschiderea \u00een Rom\u00e2nia a unor filiale ale unor companii hi tech<\/em> \u00een domeniul spa\u021bial, cum sunt GMV Spania, HPS Germania, Deimos Portugalia, dar \u0219i prin dezvoltarea Institutului de \u0218tiin\u021be Spa\u021biale de la M\u0103gurele.<\/p> \u00cen ultimul an s-au \u00eent\u00e2mplat \u00een Facultatea de Inginerie Aerospa\u021bial\u0103 multe evenimente importante, cum ar fi semnarea unor acorduri cu Fokker Engineering Romania<\/a>, cu \u0218coala Superioar\u0103 de Avia\u021bie<\/a> \u0219i cu EUROCONTROL<\/a>, \u00eenceperea cursurilor practice Fokker Academy, trofeul Best Aerospace Engineering Employer Award<\/a> c\u00e2\u0219tigat de Aerostar S. A. Bac\u0103u, Conferin\u021ba CEAS<\/a> a cercet\u0103torilor \u00een ingineria aerospa\u021bial\u0103 din Europa organizat\u0103 pentru prima dat\u0103 la Bucure\u0219ti \u0219i acordurile de practic\u0103<\/a> cu cele mai relevante 30 de organiza\u021bii aerospa\u021biale din Rom\u00e2nia \u0219i cu 7 din str\u0103in\u0103tate. Totu\u0219i, dac\u0103 ar fi s\u0103 alegem un singur eveniment, el este cel ilustrat \u00een fotografie: primele zboruri ale studen\u021bilor<\/a> dup\u0103 25 de ani de \u00eentrerupere a practicii de zbor, pe 27-29 august 2017, la Aerodromul Clinceni. Acest lucru a fost posibil cu ajutorul finan\u021b\u0103rii acordate de Ministerul Educa\u021biei Na\u021bionale pentru activit\u0103\u021bile extracurriculare ale studen\u021bilor, cu sprijinul Aeroclubului Rom\u00e2niei \u0219i al organiza\u021biei studen\u021bilor aerospa\u021biali din Europa, Euroavia, filiala Bucure\u0219ti. O tradi\u021bie de la \u00eenfiin\u021barea facult\u0103\u021bii a fost practica de zbor \u00een vara anului II. Ea a fost abandonat\u0103 \u00een anii \u201990, din cauza costurilor foarte mari. Pentru facultate, reluarea acestei tradi\u021bii este probabil cel mai semnificativ eveniment. Conteaz\u0103 enorm pentru un inginer de avia\u021bie s\u0103 aib\u0103 man\u0219a \u00een m\u00e2na sa, s\u0103 \u00een\u021beleag\u0103 dificultatea pilotajului, s\u0103 simt\u0103 direct emo\u021bia \u0219i fascina\u021bia zborului.<\/p> Ce le rezerv\u0103 viitorul acestor tineri viitori ingineri valoro\u0219i, pasiona\u021bi \u0219i bine preg\u0103ti\u021bi? Industria construc\u021biilor aeronautice din Rom\u00e2nia cre\u0219te \u00een fiecare an din 2014 \u00eencoace, de la 300 milioane Euro cifr\u0103 de afaceri la 500 milioane Euro, adic\u0103 cu peste +20% anual! Este unul din sectoarele economiei na\u021bionale cu cea mai mare cre\u0219tere anual\u0103. Noile investi\u021bii dep\u0103\u0219esc 70 milioane Euro (Airbus Helicopters Bra\u0219ov, Sonaca Moldovene\u0219ti, Cluj). De asemenea, a \u00eenceput investi\u021bia Aerostar SA Bac\u0103u la Ia\u0219i, care va intra \u00een func\u021biune din 2021. Industria transportului aerian din Rom\u00e2nia se apropie de 1 miliard de Euro, aeroporturile av\u00e2nd cea mai mare dinamic\u0103, \u00een medie peste +20% anual. Un num\u0103r considerabil de ingineri lucreaz\u0103 \u00een aceast\u0103 industrie, care include diviziile de \u00eentre\u021binere \u0219i repara\u021bii ale operatorilor aerieni. Industria militar\u0103 pe componenta de avia\u021bie \u0219i echipamente de avia\u021bie de bord \u0219i de sol se profileaz\u0103 ca foarte promi\u021b\u0103toare, fiind anun\u021bate mai multe achizi\u021bii din finan\u021barea de 2% din PIB.
